Student Life

Elite athletes and performers need daily time requirements for their extra-curricular activities. ASA offers each student individual flexibility through a four-day week, with Friday set aside for these students to catch up on missed work and instruction.

Some, but certainly not all, of ASA's student body reflects a unique population and the school serves students who have distinct educational needs. Elite athletes and performers need daily time requirements for their extra-curricular activities and ASA can offer each student individual flexibility. As a result, ASA is structured around a four-day week, Monday through Thursday, with Friday serving as a day for these students to catch up on missed work and instruction. The benefit for the traditional student is a weekly opportunity for one-on-one enrichment tutorials, group workshops and projects, and extracurricular activities. In addition, as long as a student is enrolled in at least five class periods per day, those classes can be scheduled within any 45-minute blocks from 8:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Therefore, depending on your preference, you could potentially sleep-in an extra hour or leave campus a little earlier!

ASA also incorporates a fall break, semester changeover break, winter break, and spring break into our school year, in addition to the traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday breaks. Therefore, there is plenty of time to successfully meet academic requirements, as well as enjoy family and personal life.

The atmosphere is relaxed and informal. The comfortable surroundings invite the students to apply themselves. They are encouraged to participate in school-sponsored clubs, organizations and group activities. These include Student Council, Volunteer Service Club, Mentoring Minds, Spirit Club, ASA's National Honor Society chapter (Alpha Sigma Alpha) and the Spanish National Honor Society chapter (La Celstina), and the Spanish Club.
